See How DECWARE Amps are Tested!

This is a nice 4 minute video tour of the amplifier assembly room we completed about this time last year...   it's a little more fun that just viewing a slide show.   It comes across best in full screen mode and in High Definition.

Enjoy,

Steve,

Notwithstanding that it makes waiting for my "Rachael" that much harder, I really appreciated the video. The video raised a few questions for me, which I hope you have the time to answer:

The two amps I recognized in the video where a set of Torii Monos (upside down being built) at 2'53" in the video and other places, and a SE34I.3 (Rachael) at 3'32" at the end of the work bench area connected to test equipment.

Question 1: Would you please explain what was being tested on the "Rachael" at the 2'53" mark?

Question 2: At 4'04" in the video we see the Torri Monos in closeup with two "Jupiter Beeswax Stacked Caps" per chassis. Since I ordered my "Rachael" with the same caps, does the "Rachael" come with 2 caps - one per channel - or just one cap for both channels? I forgot to ask you about that when we discussed going with the Jupiter's instead of the V-Caps.

Quesiton 3: At 4'19" in the video, is that a picture of "Rachael" to remind Paul to "clean floor". I just couldn't help myself and had to ask? Grin

Hi Rizlaw,

I actually plan on making a video or two showing how that all works, and after reading your questions I decided to just do it right then.  I got one done and my camera crapped out conjuring up lots of grumbling about the disposable world we've created and re-afformations of my decision to build things that are analog with mechanical switches and lifetime warranties.  Then I ordered another camera.

The amp is having it's power output checked, channel balance checked, and distortion tested.  This is also where the amp gets it's initial several hours of play time as it becomes the shop radio until the next amp is completed.  From there it goes into a more serious quality control area in another part of the shop.

The Rachael comes with a single coupling cap per channel.

With respect to question #3, sadly that's the only way I could make sure he see's the damn sign.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,

Sneaky devil. Smiley You never mentioned there would be a part II.

I really liked it, particularly because you were using an SE34I.3. Smiley
