I received the Psvane 12AT7's today. Out of the box they sound very nice. I bought them from Grant Audio, an authorized dealer, in Canada and they were shipped from Hong Kong. I was a bit paranoid of getting them from fleabay because of the possibility that they might be culls, rejects etc. More after they get some hours on them.

Been a few years rolling and so far my fave tube set is: Raytheon oc2 (nos), RCA od3 (nos), RCA rectifiers (nos), Sylvania JAN 6v6 power tubes (nos) and Black Sable Phillips cryo 12at7 pres.

I have tried many different power tubes but I kept coming back to type 6v6. The others always seemed more harsh or thin. Not to mention they ran a lot hotter for some reason.

I know the od3 regulators are supposed to be the “thinest” of the 4 types but I get the tightest punch in the bass from them, that really doesn't sound thin to me at all.

For amps that have the headphone mod, I would highly recommend cryo tube pres. I have a whole shelf now of non-cryo pres (mostly nos) that all had some sort of tiny but highly annoying noise issue, only noticeable under headphones.
