After a painfully long wait, the Torii had returned, a little worse for wear.
With the V-Cap upgrade, we've waited for the caps to settle in. Some days it's OK, some days it's good, and some days it's spectacular. We are at ~222 hour point.
My 2 year old discovered tube rolling - only in a different form that we audiophiles perceive it. So I replaced the broken 6922 with the 7DJ8's.
This change was anything but subtle. Wholly Gosh (never used that word) talk about different. Transparent, detailed, seeing deep into the recording with great clarity. I had to crank up the bass because that was largely stripped. And I have Super V's with 4 servo controlled subs powered by separate amplification!
It will take a few days to know whether I really can live with this sound, as interesting as it is sometimes changes like this are too much of a good thing. There is a bit of hardness or sibilance at the very top. But that could be an artifact of these darn V-Caps pulling their Cybil act. I'm using the Shuguang Treasures in place of the JJ's. We were really groovin with the Shuguangs. I'm sure more tube rolling is in order. Just wanted to comment on the 7DJ8's from Cyroset.
Also have a SF Bay Area gathering at my home in the south bay. Many folks will be coming to hear the Super V's. Should be interesting and great fun. desalvo55@gmail.com if interested.
