Do all speakers need baffle step compensation? If not how does one "compensate" for not compensating?  [smiley=10.gif]

What if you just have a cap on the tweeter and run the woofer without a crossover?

I think the Dynaco A25XL speakers I just picked up for 3 dollars each only have a cap(s) on the tweeter and run the 10 inch woofer without a crossover.

 There is a modern equal to that woofer, Madisound sells it.  Will not fit in the same hole though but spec'd similar.  It has a pretty strong rising impedance and will work run full range with not crosssover.  I have been thinking of building a pair of speakers with them in a acoustic suspension enclosure.  Actually been thinking about isobaric loading the same driver. I am thinking this would take care of baffle loss and fill in upper bass very well.  But I am no engineer.
