Lahti speaker restoration help?
12/26/10 at 13:11:40

First post. Seeking advice on restoration of four ancient 8 ohm two-way Lahti bookshelf speakers. One pair model U2 and pair unidentified. One pair 12x17 inches; other 12x9; all 4 about 7 inches deep. Design seems identical for all four. Paper tweeter-mid 3 inches diameter; woofer may vary. Can't get a good measurement of woofers without opening beautiful wood veneer cabinets.
I read somewhere these have mechanical crossovers, but not sure. All 4 work, but sound muddy compared to Polk Monitor 50s.
Thanks for any help, knowledge or suggestions.
Happy Holidays!

The three inch is likely glued in. Try to pry it out and you will have access to the box innards. Cutting a mitered box open isnt a happy thing no matter how you do it.
