Some low-fi electronic, with female voice type music. I'm enjoying this.

Hey guys, I was thinking about starting a "Recommend to Me" thread as another route for us to seek out new music. You think that's a good idea?

This - What's Spinning thread has been invaluable, but I'm not sure I want to clutter it up with song/album/style requests.

Whattda think?

I recently bought 3 albums, Raven, not so much recommended to me personally but by comments here, likes, putting 2+2 together, and taking a plunge to expand musically and have been glad I did. Theres so much out there I/we`ll never hear other than by recommends. I think it was you that sampled sounds at Decfest on the i phone and put names to fine sounding tracks.

Palomino actually did the heavy lifting with that one.

I'm looking forward to when boating season is over...I miss my listening buddy!

@ Lonely Raven:
I think it is mostly Lon who has created these awesome threads and kept them going for months at a time, when we all were too busy to post much.

Honestly, I think I know Lon well enough (from this site only, mind you) that he would have no problem at all with MORE back and forth comments between posters. If one person found a new music to listen to then all the talk about it would just build the fire.

I feel that Lon will agree: Recommend away!!

In fact, I'll start.
I usually only give Newish jazz a short listen, but I found this in a discount bin and I really like it a lot, despite it "being a girl and she is Japanese."

It is good stuff!

DD, Junko always plays awesomely, all her Blue Note and Something Else records are great!

I absolutely agree with you, recommendations here are great to read and write, and appropriate imo in this thread.

No music for me. I brought a personal Blu-ray player with me, but left the remote at home and can't turn it on! Was going to listen to music here in the hotel room but now I can't. But at my pal Dave's I listened to a great Kenny Barron cd with the late Charlie Haden and the great Roy Haynes.

I'm enjoying this now - kind of a low-fi indie rock with female vocals. It came up in the the Recommend to Me thread here in the forums and I tracked it down.   Smiley

To say the piano playing on these discs is exquisite would actually be an understatement!

Thanks, Lon. I knew that you would support my statement..

Sorry about forgetting your remote! Sux!

I mentioned the massive vinyl strike I lucked into; this is another one I have cleaned and sanitized over the past couple of days.
From what I am told on the Steve Hoffman forum, this is an extremely rare LP.
I love every second of it!  I generally enjoy Bari-sax players.

This my next recommendation.  Unfortunately this one is probably in the worst condition of the entire lot, however, I will listen to it over and over again.I am very pleased. I have researched and found that there is a remastered CD available.

LR...have you listened to the latest Sharon Van Etten album "Are We There"?  At first I wasn't sure, but it has grown on me with every spin and is definitely a standout in my stack of new music.

I am also really enjoying the new War on Drugs album...

No, but I will check that out.

I have a feeling that in no time, my library will be 95% female vocals. LOL
