In the Listening Cave.  This LP spinning...NOT recommended. Hearing Michel Legrand sing reminds me of Bill Murray as "Nick the lounge singer".  Mark.

I have that Zep IV on vinyl somewhere but I can see the  CD studio box set from where I sit.  Maybe I should see what the Torii can do with Black Dog.

Lp #1 of this two LP set...now...

Great interpretations. Interesting sound; this is a reissue of the recordings for the Telefunken label.

Just marvelous. I love Earl Hines, and these the three solo albums of Ellington compositions are DA BOMB.

I'm liking the recent choices posted by all.  I was getting worried  about where we were going when someone posted some Kenny G...hehe.

Anyway, I'm back in my Listening Cave after a dreadful time getting to work this morning.  I had to leave my car idling for an hour (5am to 6am) in front of my house to loosen up the 3/4 inch of ice on it.  Only one door would open, for which I'm thankful. But now I'm nice and cozy with my tube warmth while the heavy ice is cracking tree branches and colliding cars outside...here in Big D...Dallas, of course.

I'm listening to the below set...it's fantastic.  I don't know if it's the recording or maybe the used old Seimens EL34s that I popped in the Torri this morning, replacing the new stock KT-66's, but the "too bright" sound I complained of yesterday or the day before has left.  All is sweet and a bit warm...mmmm.  Mark.

This LP next....  It's incredible how good this recording sounds considering it was originally made in 1950 and 1952.  Mark.

Lon, I did a google search for Jazz recordings on my birthday and found that three tunes on the Miles Davis /Gil Evans LP, "Porgy and Bess" were done on my birthday. The album was recorded on 4 different sessions. Milestones was also recorded in 1958 and Kind of Blue the following year.

I was in a Monk Mood and I only can find this one on vinyl, there are other Columbia reissues on vinyl that I can't find.  Of course, I have almost all his official releases on CD.  Anyway, this one is worth another listen.

The sound I'm getting today is amazing.  I think I'll stop tinkering for a while.  But another 12AU7 came in the mail today...a Raytheon with halo getter like the 12AX7's you and I both have in our ZP3's.  It'll have to wait until tomorrow.  Mark.
