Boy do I know it. I won't pay that sort of money for discs I'm afraid. I was thrilled that MoFi was doing this Ellington on SACD and pre-ordered it way back when so only have the original price into my copy. I sold a few dozen SACDs last year when I was a bit short of making my property tax payment, but didn't sell that one. For me it's that rare thing: music I love that is also a fantastic mastering.

I just listened to two sides of this release, which I've had since it first hit the stores what seems as if it were a long time ago. It's never sounded like this before on any medium, just amazing percussive sound and overall ambiance.

Well, I could have lived without it but I'm glad I finally was able to afford the upgrade. Mk II improves my DVR and Blu-ray sources, which were impressive before then. There's less improvement on my Redbook sound imo, I'm using the PWT for those discs and it already has a "digital lens" inside and adding one more in the path I think does improve the sound, but it's less so than adding one for the other inputs (which didn't have one beforehand) has brought.

I'm very happy with my digital front end now (or still, or again). And now my analog front end is as good as I feel it can be for now as well, and I'm enjoying that world of sound immensely too. It's giving my Redbook cd habit a run for its money.

I have the DVR coming in to the PWD via the optical input and the Blu-ray via the coaxial RCA input.
