hey guys,
im not shure wich fourm section to post this in,
but I have just found a pair of old rockford fosgate puch 12" subs
in grandmas garage,   theyve been sitting there for 7+ years
so the foam surrounds are dust.
but the subs are good in every other way-
is there some where I can go buy a re foam kit from ( besides ebay )

the new foam rings I will need measure 9" inner diamater and 11.5" outer diamater.

also what type of glue is sutable for attaching them?
here is a pic just for fun.    I cant believe how old theese subs are.

Brian,

Steve carries surrounds for a lot of speakers, Give them a call and see what they can do for you, he also sells the glue.

Man,
I can't believe it's been that long since I was selling those bad boys! lol

I must've done 1000 installs with those things.
Bob's got a good one there. Steve actually has a listing on the site for surrounds that give the dimensions as well as the angle of attachment. I am sure he has one that will fit these. I don't know if he might not have something that Parts Express has, but they sell kits as well that come with the glue.

Take care,
Robert

The G12F kit is likely the correct one.  Measure you cone diameter and check it against the listings.

Here is a link to the speaker repair parts: http://www.decware.com/newsite/repairs.htm

I have refoamed a handful of speakers myself, and I once read a  forum that said there is a disc with a test signal on to play when letting the glue set. It is supposed to seat the woofer in place without removing the dust cap. It was for a couple of vintage JBLs. Can you do this with other woofers without to much trouble. I did some CVs and they gave me dustcaps with the logo. I also did some Infinitys but no logo on the new dustcap. I havent tried it that way.....any inputs?

when I measured the cone with the origonal foam surround removed - the total diamater of it ( including the lip it glues to)  is 9.5" exactly.
the visable portion of the cone once the new surround is glued in place should measure 9" even.

the mounting type is flat.   not angled.

I dont believe you have any speaker foams that are "flat" type that are measuring 9" inner diamater.
any ideas where to find  a pair?

id realley hate to trash theese speakers.

maby I could use the next size down?   or would that be asking for trouble.....

The G12F kit should work
It says "For cone diameters between 9-9 1/4 inches

I think when you pull off the cork or whatever, you can move it around a bit, but that sounds like it would work to me.

If not, try this one:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=260-930

If you decide you don't want to mess with it, let me know and you can ship them to me! lol

Take care,
Robert
