12" single full range cone in Imperial

Hi,

Has anyone used or is using any 12" full range single cone in their Imperial speaker, such as a Fostex 12"  or 12" Audio Nirvana? If so, is it an avenue worth trying, and were the results favorable?

gravedigger and all

It looks to me like the 10" Audio Nirvana is a better fit for the horn loaded Imperial than the 12".  Actually it looks to me like the 12" Audio Nirvana is a "weird duck" when its specs are compared to the rest of the Audio Nirvana line.

model  Fs       Qts         Vas       Fs/Qts
-----------------------------------------------
12"      33.5   .487    10.3 cu ft     69
10"      36      .286      3.6 cu ft    126
8"        37.5   .215      3.4 cu ft    174
6.5"     46.5   .203       1.3 cu ft   229

The 12" is the only one who's low Fs/Qts might imply that it may not be suitable for a horn loaded cabinet.
The Vas also seems to take a huge jump from the rest of the line.

I tried to find the 12" Fostex you mentioned but couldn't find it.  Got a link to its specs?

Hi Dan,

So the specs of the 12" Nirvana is not suitable for a large horn? Sad The Fostex FW405N is actaully a 15" cone, the link is from the Fostex site, there are a few other speakers on the page Including a 31"  ::)
