Efficiency of WO32
04/03/07 at 19:08:16

I'm looking to fill my 16x20 room with bass.
How  will a WO32 work if run parrallel with my 8ohm HDT's?  I was thinking about running both with a 4 watt integrated SET and I don't want to have to add another amp if I don't have to. Is this a waste of time? This is not something I have the money for now, but I was just trying to think to the future.
Any other cost effective ideas would be welcome.
Thanks,
John

i dont think 4 watts will power 2 x 10" subwoofers?

but i might be wrong as steve d has filled big rooms with big sound with small amps.

the wo32 is amazing, build it or buy it, and when you have it, you can see what amp works best.

if you choose woofers for a 32, that were extremely effcient AND had the right ts params for a 32 you  might create something very

special indeed ?   Roll Eyes     Cool

Thanks 60.
My biggest concern, aside from the added expense of another separate amp, is how to match volume levels without a preamp. Maybe I can add another set of outputs into the integrated that can be controlled by its volume.

Hi John,    If you go to Audiogon and type- TBI in the search feature, you will see an ad for a sub amp with built in crossover that will accept speaker level in, then you just wire in parralel with your speakers and have volume and frequency and phase control of the WO32.  The retail is 400.00 but this guy is offering for 200.00.  The brand is TBI and I think it puts out about 200watts.    Tish

Thanks Tish. I'll check it out.
Have you heard this amp on a sub woofer?
I won't be building the WO32 for at least another 6 months, but I thought I should start gathering info now. The research is almost as fun as listening. (not really)

i have tried several different amps on a wo32, they all worked well, the quality of the bass, i believe, is derived from the enclosure
design more than the amp, as long as you stay away from very cheap amps im sure you will be very happy.

Nice little amp for generic. Thermal overload and dead short protection.
Here is some pictures of the innards... (CD case for size reference)

The output terminals are upgraded.

Hi John,   In answer to your question, Yes I have heard that amp(the one on audiogon).     I currently have two of those, I use one for each chanel and I have two of their passive subs(TBI).   But you only need one for a WO32,  the amp even has provisions for hooking up two subs at once so you could wire each driver in the WO32 to its own speaker post.    Tish

Oh Yea,  I forgot to mention that it is a stand alone amp, everything is already incosed in a black case.

Sweet,
For $98 with a remote it sounds like a no-brainer.
Do I run the WO32 in stereo or do I combine the channels?
Buzz, I like your enclosure too.
Thanks guys.
