been using 12" wicked ones loaded with pa drivers for Pa use. compared to pa drivers car drivers are a bit cack. having used a pair of cabs for the last couple of years we finally blew the drivers last weekend..
seems theres a few other people into modding the box and now considering designing a new variant for 15's.
reckon the cab will be about 4ft wide, 3ft deep and 1.5ft high...
will post some pics when stuffs a bit more finalised.
the idea of 8 of them bieng used for PA really does make me grin

finally got around to finishing the 10" WO - slapped in some "inexpensive" Distinct Audio subs in there & man, we're impressed!  It EASILY keeps up with a pair of sealed 15's in every way!!  We're gonna experiment with porting the sealed chamber with aeroports outside the box--easy tuning and won't take up volume...will post results... ???

One thing about the L7 subs you have to remember. They have about as much cone area as the next size larger speaker in a round cone. That means those L7 12s are really like 15s. To say the least, the WO is going to be tight any way you cut it when using that big a cone. I don't know that they will develop any movement at all in that small sealed chamber. Porting them might only exacerbate the problem. Good luck with that. Let us know how it turns out.

I do not agree that a 12 L7 has the same cone area as a 15 inch round sub...no sir.

A 12 inch sub is a 12 inch sub is a 12 inch sub

Kicker 12L7 Sd = 645cm^2

JL Audio 12W0 Sd = 531cm^2

JL Audio 15W4 Sd = 840cm^2

Fact is, a SoloBaric still displaces more volume of air than a regular circular 12.

well you know what I meant by a 12 is a 12...but yes it does displace more air than a normal woofer....I just don't really like how people say it has the same cone area as a 15.

Sorry to start a debate, lol. Kicker did advertise something like that when they first released the square subs. I think it was more along the lines of the 10" had similar cone area to a conventional 12".

But yeah, the gist was to imply that the solo 12 does have more cone and movement than a conventional 12" speaker.

Maybe more like a 13" sub? lol

The last time I installed L7s I noticed they were pretty stiff and the excursion was not nearly as high as some others so yeah, I would bet the RLs move more air. I wonder what effect this will have on the WO performance.
