Has anyone used Rockwood 2215's in a Housewrecker?

I recently built a pair and loaded them with 2X Etone 801's each.  While nice and deep, especially compared to the same drivers in a front loaded box, they're not very loud (with 450 watts per box)

If I went to a set of cheapie car 15's would I get more volume?

I have no idea, I pulled them out of some early 80's full range bins.  A fairly thorough google search turned up little information on them.  They're a 250watt 15, even when being driven hard the cone barely appears to move so I guess they don't really move much air.

If the cheapo drivers are no good then I'll go with P.Audio neo15lf or Eminence Kappa Pro 15lf (both close to 100db from memory)

build it and throw em in, if they work they work, if they don't then you can buy those others.

higher sensitivity drivers are louder than lower sensitivity drivers -on the same amp.

are long excursion drivers louder than short excusion drivers?

higher excursion will make the system deeper, as raising the Xmax usually lowers the Fs of the driver.  The trade off (usually) is that higher Xmax drivers lose a lot of linearity in thier cone movement under high wattage conditions, causing "muddy" bass that is not as accurate.  Adire advertises new XBL2 technology that promises higher linearity at higher excursions.

Anywyas, the HWK behaves so differently than most sixth order bandpass boxes that this may not mean a thing.  The airspring, combined with the high cone control of the BP enclosures would likely render this moot.  A higher excursion moves more air, as the entire output of this system is via ports, i would think that, while almost certainly more resounding, there would be a great deal of port noise.  In short smaller Xmax drivers are more forgiving of ports, with a high excursion driver you will need very large flares to prevent audible hiss.

I would try it, but i am not in a position to do so just yet, so its up to you...  enquiring minds want to know!

Gotta correct ya here. Do the math. Ohm's law.   
2.83V across an 8 ohm load is 1W  
2V across 4 ohm load is 1W      
1.414V (look familiar?) across 2 ohm load is 1W  
 
So if you're talking about 8 ohm drivers those 2 specs are the same.  
 
If it's a spec using 2.83V across a 4 ohm driver, just subtract 3dB. It's really not a BS spec.

i wonder if i had paid attention at school if i would have better sounding subs? i love it when people know what theyre talking about.me, i just cut the wood and screw it together, and throw in a driver-pray for good results.
